Zielony Domek inspired the authors of the comic series “Trumian Show” and “Wianek” (The Wreath), themed around Belarusian customs and folklore. Both series are set in Belarus, they also share the main character, a Belarusian girl named Alena.
“Even before ‘Trumian,’ I created a series from which my character Alena emerged. I wanted her to come from a Slavic country close to Poland. Then a friend of mine suggested: ‘Let it be Belarus, because it’s a country that no one knows much about’,” recalls one of the comic’s authors, Patrycja Hop, in an interview originally given to the Belsat TV website. “Belarusian culture itself is inspiring. At art school, I learned that the most Slavic traditions and the most sculptures from the Early Slavic period have been preserved there,” adds the comic’s co-author, Agata Hop.
It is a great pleasure to see our Zielony Domek featured in a comic book set against the backdrop of the colorful Eastern Slavic folklore.
